Leeds United Considers Experienced Midfielder to Tackle Injury Challenges
Leeds United are said to be planning to sign Cheikhou Kouyate as a free agent to add depth to their midfield, which has sustained injuries. With important players in the ranks such as Ilia Gruev and lent Ethan Ampadu injured, the vast experience of the 34-year-old could be priceless for head coach Daniel Farke.
Kouyate, who is no stranger to the rigours of the English Premier League having played for West Ham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, will be a welcomed asset as it is obvious that Leeds are going through a rough patch. The team had a bright start to the campaign and are currently in the 5th position with 16 points, but recent injuries and two consecutive draws against Norwich and Sunderland have derailed their progress.
As it gears up for an important clash with Sheffield United on October 19th, Leeds will be really hoping for a positive result so as to maintain their promotion ambitions; a push for the season that has appeared to be, particularly in the acquisition of seasoned players like Kouyate, expensive. If the club acts fast, Kouyate may be the short term fix that they require for them to be back on track.
