Leeds United manager did not wanted to sign Tanaka
Rumours about a rift between Daniel Farke and the Leeds United hierarchy are intensifying. An article in the German press revealed yesterday that Farke did not want to sign AO Tanaka.
Despite exploring options like Gustavo Hamer and Dejan Ljubicic, Leeds ultimately chose Tanaka, spending nearly £4m on him on deadline day. After losing key players such as Summerville, Rutter, Gray, and Kamara, Farke might have expected a marquee signing. Instead, Tanaka’s arrival fell short of those expectations.
According to the German publication ‘De Rheinische Post,’ Farke was disappointed with the signing. Only time will reveal if Tanaka, with 27 international caps, can prove him wrong.
Tanaka previously played for Düsseldorf in the German second tier, where he scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 95 appearances. His impressive record also includes 10 goals and nine assists in 94 matches with Kawasaki Frontale, where he won three J League titles and multiple domestic cups.
