Rumours: Leeds United Targets Two Free Agents Following Midfield Crisis
Leeds United is now searching for the free-agent market after the injuries of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev that can leave them on the bench for several weeks. The team occupies the fifth position in the Championship and is planned to play against Sunderland, which may bring the team to the first position.
Manager Daniel Farke spoke of a ‘panic signing’ but pointed out that the best players available are usually those without a contract at this stage of the season. He questioned whether the type of signings being made can get them into the team quickly as most of them have not trained for months.
There are two players that can become the main targets; Cheikhou Kouyate, who use to play for West Ham and Nottingham Forest, and Christoph Kramer, who used to play for Borussia Monchengladbach. Jack Cork cannot come to the club anymore because he has re-joined Burnley by penning down a new contract. Farke still anticipates the returns of Ampadu and Grue as he also looks at the moral boosting implication of signing a free agent to the team.
